We all benefit from a vacation from time to time. However, in an economy crisis, vacationing can be a financial challenge if you don't plan with a mind for saving. Cost is always a factor, but there are ways that a family can still enjoy their vacation without breaking the piggy bank.

Here are a few ways to save on your next vacation:

1. There are a few great travel discount websites like Hotwire.com and Priceline.com what give you an opportunity to get the lowest possible rates for hotel rooms, car rentals, and flights. If you don't stress over the name of the hotel but want to be sure to get the quality, these websites offer a fabulous option. You can expect to save up to 70% off!

2. Trading houses with another family can save you lots of money. Your home becomes their vacation place and your home becomes their vacation spot. In an economy crisis, it is simple way to get what you need without paying a lot out. You could scale the Eiffel Tower in Paris or ride along the Thames in London, all before retiring to your vacation home instead of an expensive hotel for the evening. You should make every effort to be safe, so check references for the family that you will be swapping with, don't leave your valuable in your home, and do a thorough investigation of the area and be sure to get plenty of photos of where you will be staying.

3. Go in for a quick time-share presentation. Where else can you get a luxury hotel stay, dinner or a trip to the theatre for just sitting and listening to somebody talk for a couple of hours? Most people listen to people gab all day at the job and they don't have anything to show for it! If you do decide to check out one of these "meetings", always remember that you DON'T have to buy anything. However, if you decide to consider buying, truth is that time sharing is another way to save on future vacations.

4. Sign up to save! There are so many different rewards programs and vacation clubs out there that people can use to get a big vacation saving. Cost is not an issue with these programs because they are usually FREE. All you have to do is find the program that will give you the biggest bang for your buck. Some programs will allow you to earn free car rental, flights, and hotel nights or upgrades for any of those. Many don't require purchasing anything, you just sign up and start saving. Your dream vacation may come sooner than you dreamed!
