Most financial experts recommend living below your means and saving money. However there are a couple different ways to go about doing this. The First way is to simply look at what your expenses are and then lowering them. If you bring in $4,000 a month see if you can survive on $3,000 a month. That way you will have $1,000 of free money each month to save for an emergency or to invest into something that will put you in a better financial situation in the future. The easiest way of cutting your expenses is to simply make a list of the expenses that you have each month. Then try to cut corners and see how you can save more money. Do you really need to go to that coffee shop every day? There is another option however. In order to live below your means you simply have to spend less then you make. But what if you increase what you make? Instead of lowering your expenses you can simply look for alternative ways of building up some extra income. If you are making say $4,000 a month and are spending $4,500 in a month then your financial picture is all turned around. But you can still fix it by making more money from alternate income sources. You just have to remember not to raise your expenses as soon as you raise your income, which is a challenge for most people. But if you can then it will be a great way to bring you less stress financially and more security. So, which way is better? Should you focus your time on saving your money or increasing your income? Well, the best option is to do a little bit of both. Don't spend more than you can bring in, but don't underestimate the power of creating alternate income opportunities.
