I'm going to show you some tricks to save money on your utah home loan that the other lenders won't be happy about.

Step 1

Do not share your SSN or income and asset information until you've decided what that company is offering you!

Most Utah home loan companies will try to get this out of you just as soon as possible so you don't shop around with other companies.

The average person won't send this stuff to too many companies, so the better they are at getting this from you, the less likely it is that you will go to another lender for a competing quote.

DO NOT DO THIS. Tell the lender that you want their best offer upfront and then, if you choose to use that Utah mortgage lender, then you can choose to send them the stuff they are asking for.

(If you want, you can always just tell them in person or on the phone what your income is, what your credit is, etc. Just be sure to not email or fax any official documents until you have their best quote and you have commited to using that company).

The Second Thing

Don't pay for any upfront or application charges to any Utah home loan companies.

The main reason behind this is simply to further commit you to that company and to discourage you to shop around. If the lender you are talking to asks for upfront money (even for things like checking your fico score, it's always best to just politely say no thank you and move on).

Step 3

Some companies will low ball the third party fees

Utah mortgage lenders can always decide what they will charge but NOT what other institutions such as title, escrow, inspection, and appraisal will charge.

More often than not, lending institutions will purposely make those charges less than they should be to make their proposal look less expensive that what it really should be. Just be careful here and do your own due diligence to make sure that the quoted fees are correct.

It's a good idea to be suspicious of any fees that look really low like taxes, insurance, title fees, etc.

When comparing quotes it's best to really just compare the lender fees since most third party fees such as title and appraisal won't change much from Utah mortgage company against the other.
