The offer of 0% interest credit cards although appears to be an excellent offer but can turn out to be a bad deal if you are not careful. First of all, although you may get hundreds of offers in your mail box talking about the offers which are pre approved but the story may not be so. Sometimes you can also see a 1 year old receiving great card deals in his mail box every day. So, a mail offering you 0 % interest credit cards in your mail box does not necessarily mean you qualify for one. Generally pre-approvals are junk mail. A 1 year old can get a pre-approval for a credit card. They do not mean anything. Always research the offers and look at the fine print. Secondly, No credit card company is going to give a 0% interest credit card to anyone that has a bad credit record. Credit card companies look at your credit card reports. They look at your past credit card behavior. If you tend to miss payments, or have numerous late payments, then this past behavior will affect your credit report. That is a good reason to be careful of how you use your credit cards. If you are one of the fortunate individuals who get a 0% interest credit card, then congratulations. Before you head off to the mall, be sure to read the fine print. Find out what the 0% interest applies to. Find out if it only applies to balance transfers or does it apply to purchases? If the 0% interest is for only for balance transfer, then I would suggest you freeze that card on a block of ice or do any other action that would keep you from spending money on that card. Most 0% cards have a policy which only applies any payments you make at the lowest interest rates at first. In some cases, you might have to pay back the entire balance transfer before you can make any knew purchases on the cards. Just be vigilant of what kind of 0% credit cards you use.
