Do you want the perfect butt? Maybe yours is too large. Or too small. Perhaps a little bit droopy. Even downright saggy. What are you going to do? You are going to have to do the best butt workout you can find.
Do you want the perfect butt? Maybe yours is too large. Or too small. Perhaps a little bit droopy. Even downright saggy. What are you going to do? You are going to have to do the best butt workout you can find. No matter what, you're going to have to exercise the full complement of muscles in your posterior. Secret Number 1: Knowing what you are dealing with... The best butt workout you can do counts on the fact that you know your gluteus maximus from your gluteus minimus from your gluteus medius. Three major muscles. These are known as your "glutes". Secret Number 2: You can't work just the easy ones... The best butt workout won't work in your favor unless you do what you need to in the entire general area. Did you know that every muscle has an opposite or "complementary" muscle? The muscle that bends your arm (your bicep) has a complement, the tricep (which straightens your arm). Similarly in the legs, you have the quadriceps in the front of the leg and the hamstrings in the back. If you only worked the front, you'd have a difficult time standing up. Secret Number 3: You have to work all of them... Maybe in the past you've had a smug feeling because you did a few squats, felt "the burn" in your gluteus maximus, and decided that you had done your work. Nope. Sorry. You have to work ALL the glutes -- in order. And you have to push them harder than before. (Really. I mean, if you had been working them correctly, you'd have the perfect butt, right?) Secret Number 4: You're not the same as everyone else... Your butt is not a clone of the butt on the woman standing next to you. So, do you think that the same number of reps will give her 45-inch hips the same benefit that they'll give to your 38-inch hips? You are not her and she is not you. It may well be the case that you can to do more reps and more sets. If that's so, do them! So even if you can't do the same number of reps that she can do, remember that it's more important to work at being better today than you were the day before. The best butt workout is one that you can succeed at. You may not be able to succeed at hers. Excel at yours.
