One of the greatest things in life has to be tanning. To me, there is nothing that makes me look better than a good tan all over my body. Tanning is a great hobby to have. The only downside to it is that it becomes kind of hard to do when winter arrives and the sun goes down for longer and longer.

Ofcourse, there are ways to get tans indoors as well. If you live anywhere near a city, you are bound to be able to find a tanning bed service somewhere. But it's harder to get a tan from a tanning bed. I usually make sure to bring a tanning accelerator lotion with me to speed up the process.

What you basically need a tan accelerator to do, is to increase the levels of a chemical called melanin in your body. Melanin can be found in our pigment cells. The pigment cells, in turn, are responsible for the color of our skin. The more melanin there is in the pigment cells, the darker our skin.

Tanning accelerators are designed to do increase melanin in the pigment cells, thereby making it easier for you to get a good tan. You can use these accelerators indoors or outdoors. Next to increasing melanin, tan accelerators will also keep your skin moist and free of dead skin cells.

When rubbing an accelerator lotion on your body, the melanin doesn't come from the lotion itself. The lotion has natural enzymes in it that your skin will absorb. Your body then starts to produce melanin all by itself. So the accelerators merely promote melanin production within the body.

Ask yourself if you want to get an indoor tan or an outdoor tan at the moment that you are planning on trying one of these accelerators out. Indoor accelerators have much more tyrosine in them. This is an amino acid that promotes melanin production very strongly. Use with caution.

Using a tan accelerator lotion is not entirely without any risk. You have to use your common sense when using them. Take the time to rub them out as evenly as you can. If you fail to do this, you will tan unevenly and it will make you look ridiculous. You'll be walking around with a tan for a long time, so make sure you get a good one.

Another thing to consider is the fairness of your skin. If your skin is very fair and sensitive and you plan on doing outdoor sun bathing, then make sure your accelerator lotion has a sunscreen in it. This will allow you to gradually increase your tan until you are satisfied.
