The first e-cigarettes were more a novelty item than a real smoking alternative. Introduced in Europe in 2003, the e-cigarettes did not provide a realistic smoke yet even then there was great interest from the public in the fledgling product. Today, smokers are often surprised to find the best e-cigarette closely mimics the experience of the tobacco products they are accustomed to smoking.

Cheap e-cigarettes may not be satisfying to smokers due to a thin vapor volume that does not deliver a proper dose of nicotine to the user. E-cigarettes are judged based on vapor volume produced as dense vapor provides a better nicotine delivery. The best e-cigarettes on the market today are Green Smoke products which are well known for reliably producing a high volume of vapor.

The reason for e-smoking is to ingest nicotine. The vapor is important as a dense vapor yields a throat hit that is close to the feeling experience when you light up a standard cigarette. Tobacco users are accustomed to that first hit of nicotine hitting the back of their throat as they inhale. The nicotine is then quickly absorbed into the smoker's body and the cravings are quickly satisfied.

The design of the best e-cigarette is quite similar to the look of the tobacco product it replaces. No longer do e-cigarettes have to be unbalanced due to heavy batteries at one end. New battery designs are lighter in weight and hold a charge longer. Some less expensive e-cigarettes today still are made in the same slick plastic, poorly weighted style that were sold several years ago.

Longer lasting batteries of new innovative designs have an LED light at the tip. When the e-smoker draws on the mouthpiece the small light grows bright like the burning tip of a "real" cigarette. Although the light may look real it is an illusion and will not leave burn holes in your car or couch fabric.

E-smokers can choose from several flavors. The regular tobacco flavor and menthol are the most in demand. More adventurous users might try strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, or coffee flavored vapor. The flavors are not identical to the flavor of tobacco but are very close.

You not only choose the flavor when you buy e-cigarette (s) but also have a choice nicotine strength. The highest strength available is most often 16 mg and provides nicotine equal to smoking non-filtered tobacco products.

If you prefer to smoke full flavor tobacco brands, the 8 mg nicotine level is a good comparison. For smokers of Light brands the 6 mg strength will salve their nicotine needs and for Ultra Light smokers the choice is the lighter 4 mg e-cigarette cartridges.

Electronic cigarettes do not provide a real comparison with tobacco when price is considered. Increased tobacco taxes on the federal and state levels have greatly increased the price of smoking tobacco. With a cost of $5-10 per pack smoking is not longer an inexpensive habit and can be big budget item for some smokers. If you buy e-cigarette (s) from even the top named brands you will pay approximately $2 for the equivalent of one pack of standard cigarettes. Demand for e-cigarettes is rapidly increasing in the marketplace and may be driven in part by the significant savings of e-cigarettes when compared to other high cost of tobacco products.
