Stress in the 21st century is a reality we all have to face, and plenty of people find it increasingly difficult to find ways to effectively cope with what ails them. Whether you're a homemaker tending to their children all day, a full-time career person working twelve hour shifts, or a student dealing with a tough workload: Stress is something that will always be there -- looming in the background, demanding to be dealt with. It's extremely important to find ways to reduce stress in your life, both for productivity and overall happiness. Ways to reduce stress (The 4 A's) 1. Avoid. Stay away from the things that stress you out, such as: negative people, traffic jams, or any of the hundreds of things that can trigger stress in all of us. 2. Alter. Change the stress in your life. If you find it impossible to outright avoid people/things that demand all of your patience, alter them in a way that makes them less of a stress inducer. Using the example of dealing with negative people: Instead of allowing them to make your blood pressure rise, try to attempt to figure out what makes them feel the way they do and try to help them enact change in their life. 3. Adapt. Adapting can be one of the hardest ways to reduce stress in your life, as it often requires a huge life change. This can include changing your career if you're unhappy, changing your diet, making more money, not focusing on material things so much, etc -- it's different for everyone. 4. Accept. A popular quote from the bible: "Lord, give me the strength to accept the things that which I cannot change." Whether religion is a part of your life or not, some times accepting a stressful situation is the easiest way to make it less of a problem in your life. Simply changing your reaction from a negative one and simply accepting that something is bothersome will give you the strength to deal with your issues. When you realize that you must reduce stress levels to be happy in your life, remember the 4 A's. Also make sure you're eating a healthy nutritious diet and getting at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. Exercise is extremely important for implementing the 4 A's into your life.
