Its a good idea to scan all documents of importance and store them in your email account before you leave home .This will prove invaluable if they are lost as you can approach the embassy to apply for new ones Divide your valuables such as credit cards travellers cheques and cash and distribute them between several pockets or bags.

Toiletries can placed in small transparent containers to avoid carrying large bottles Travel sizes are a good idea and are readily available from supermarkets and pharmacies. The clever way of packing is to place your lighter items at the bottom and heavier ones at the top because your bag will feel lighter.Soiled garments can be placed at the bottom also. To prevent your toiletries from leaking bring some plastic bags which will also be useful for soiled clothes. Zip lock bags are best for such items.

If you find you have to unpack your clothes during custom checks its advantageous to pack items such as underclothes,tops, shorts etc: in transparent plastic containers so as to unpack them easier and quicker. If your journey is going to be long one wash your clothes from time to time which reduces the need to take more than you should and also lessens the weight.

If you take a suitcase, a piece of cardboard will help you divide separate sections and organise your things in a proper way. It will also helps during the airport inspections.It is also important to take a torch while travelling. Keep your shoes and old socks into airtight plastic bags with a zip lock to make your bag stays clean and odour free.

Its prudent to put medication and valuable papers in your carry on bag in the event of your luggage being delayed or lost which can sometimes happen on a long journey or during airport searches. When packing rolling methods can mean items take up less room in your luggage and using tissue paper prevents your clothes becoming creased. Vacuum storage and compression bags are ideal for this purpose.

Check on the liquids policy of your departure airport and the destination country. You can take tooth powder and shampoo bars instead of tooth paste and shampoo or if the once permitted 100 ml plastic bottles are still allowed take them. Try to minimize your toiletries according to your stay. Finally don't leave your baggage unattended, even for a minute .
