I could guess why you want to learn to play the electric guitar? You want to learn because there is no cooler feeling in the world than feeling the admiration of others as they watch you jam out some of your favorite tunes on the electric guitar! It's an incredible feeling when you start to piece together the chords and make actual music. Then the rush you get by playing some songs is literally out of this world. If you are like I was, you want to know how to learn to play the electric guitar in the shortest amount of time. Here are 3 ways to accelerate your progress: 1. Learn the basic chords - this, in my opinion, is the most boring part! But, it's essential. You have to learn the basic chords if you want to learn to play the electric guitar. What I initially did was use a book to learn how to read the chords and how to position my fingers. Big mistake - learning by reading a book was horrible because I had no reference point, just some pictures of the chords. I never knew if my fingers were positioned correctly or if the sound was right. You're much better off either buying a DVD or joining one of the online guitar courses so you can see what the heck to do. 2. Practice, practice, practice - I am sure people tell you this all the time, "if you want to learn to play the electric guitar, you have to practice!" And practicing is kind of boring, but it's not this simple my friend. Do you really think Joe Satriani, Angus Young or Eddie Van Halen just picked up the guitar one day and started playing like they do now? Uh, I don't think so. It is essential that if you want to learn to play the electric guitar you practice each and every day to get the chords right and the fingers positioned correctly. The more you practice, the better you will get. 3. Get some cool jam tracks - once you can move your fingers from chord to chord fluidly, start playing along with some cool jam tracks you like. By doing this you will not only get better and better, but you will have a heck of a lot more fun learning this way. You no doubt will learn to play the electric guitar much quicker when you start playing along with songs. Once these 3 things are mastered, you can move on to more advanced techniques like hammer-ons, pull-offs and bending. You can even start to learn some picking and speed techniques to get that fluid, rocking sound. DISCLAIMER: This article is provided as information only and is not to be taken as financial advice.
