The hallmark of our era is the power and benefits we witness from super rapidly advancing new technology. Imagine the size of million dollar main frame computers not much more than a decade ago and consider that multiple times there power now fit into your inexpensive mobile devices We have electronics that guide us to where we want to go by car (like the Garmin 765t in-car GPS unit... or that alert us to the invasive threat of police speed enforcement (such as the Escort Passport 8500 x50)... and even biofeedback devices that synchronise our brain waves creating long-lasting changes in our mental capacities (research biofeedback programs)... we can also record high def video and audio on a device no bigger than a small mobile phone (such as the Creative Vado HD). The old joke of the robot that brings us our morning coffee is probably not too far off. These are truly remarkable times if we open our eyes to it. Technology brings us great leverage for efficiency, productivity, enjoyment, and adventure. Can you begin to imagine what would result if all industries were deregulated like the electronics and computer industry. We would experience the same fast pace march of biomedical science and integrated medicine that would drive the costs of health care down. The true vote of power is the consumers purchase power. And with the advance of smart phones and sensors and scanners and connections to relational databases that throw up on-screen or even projects through laser onto walls or objects in front of us, knowledge has become more than power. Technology is bringing us knowledge that will give us freedom. True freedom of choice. To choose what we use in our lives, including our gadgets and gizmos, including our environment, as well as our benefactors and guardians in political office. One politician suggested disabling the Internet because it has produced such a 'dangerous' flow of information. Well I think it's too late for that now. Certainly we can hope so. The information super highway and modern communication gadgets are part of the fabric of modern society and will weave their way deeper into our lives. For better or worse. I am an optimist. And I love the gadgets I use, the power it brings me, and the fun. DISCLAIMER: This article is provided as information only and is not to be taken as financial advice.
