Looking to get inspired? Then travel. It is the perfect way to give yourself a little boost, regardless whether you are at a high point in life or feeling a bit low. The thing is the new perspective - the proverbial "can't see the forest for the trees" - you don't have to be a freelancer to benefit some big picture thinking. So let's talk about a few reasons why you should get inspired by travel.

Travel can benefit you emotionally. The human brain is a very complex machine, but one of the things we know is that a change in pace benefits it greatly. That's not to say travel isn't sometimes emotionally stressful - it can be - but it's a different kind of stress. You're working a different part of the brain. If that just worries you too much - no problem, just pick somewhere that is all but sure to be stress free.

Travel can benefit you physically too. No matter if you're a marathon runner or if you sit at a desk all day, you'll both benefit from travel. Why? Because it's something different. Taking yourself out of that day in and day out exertion you give yourself and do something new to you for a change. Many holidays translate into lots of walking, and even if you're lounging on the beach, isn't it amazing what a good breath of fresh air will do?

I'm sure you are considering the barriers you have to your next trip. If money is a problem, then start saving now. Start small and watch your penny jar grow. You don't have to go for a round the world trip to be inspired. If it's a fear of flying, then take a road trip or train. But stop making excuses - tell me, what are you really afraid of?

Keep your eye on your travel goals. Update your calendar for a regular reminder to think about your travel plans. One of the things I like to do is to change my desktop's image with some fun wallpaper. Each time you come back to your desk after a break or from lunch, you can see that inspiring image looking back at you. Pretty soon you'll be jumping to get on that plane.
