A large percentage of the population are affected by fibromyalgia. There is little help on offer from conventional or alternative therapies. It might look like the outlook is bleak, but it is possible to get relief. In fact complete recovery is possible if the right approach is used.

During my time as a health coach, therapist and trainer I have helped many people to recover. The key is to uncover the cause of the condition, rather than searching for an external medicine or treatment. Through my work, I found that there is a direct link between the stress response and the symptoms of this condition.

There are a number of conditions that are maintained by the stress response. These include fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, M.E. and post viral syndrome. Some FM sufferers experience fatigue and some chronic fatigue sufferers experience physical pain. Although they can appear to be unrelated conditions, they all respond to the same approach.

A structured approach is necessary in order to reduce the stress response. Anyone suffering is likely to have become almost stuck in the stress response. Most bodily systems are adversely affected, due to the changes in biochemistry. The lymphatic system doesn't work as it should when the system is under consistent stress. When toxic stress chemistry builds up, it causes pain for sufferers.

In order to reduce overall stress it is necessary to make changes in a number of key areas. Simple acupressure techniques can also be used to reduce stress and encourage the opposite relaxation response. These techniques literally change biochemistry and are extremely effective whilst being easy to learn.

Acupressure techniques, together with focused breathing practices can be used a number of times a day on a regular basis. Consistency is the key to this approach. Using these techniques in a structured way could be viewed as the equivalent of taking a course of medicine. Safe, naturally occurring medicine that reduces stress and only does you good.
