Unfortunately, it is a fact of life that all human beings sweat; some take it more seriously than others, and some are downright in your face about it. We eat, we process food, we get hot, we shiver, we sweat----but that's not the be-all and end-all of the story. Because we live in close contact with each other for the most part, and we don't like the smell that others put out, for the most part; we are forced to go on this holy quest to find the best antiperspirant deodorant that will stifle or mask our smells and at the same time, stop that darned sweat from pouring down our sides from our armpits.

Because we demand the best in products to do the most effective job possible, scientists have been working for years to come up with the best antiperspirant deodorant to fill that demand and as a result have flooded the market with creams, gels, sprays, roll ons in all manner of containers to satisfy our needs. The deodorants are the most needed part of the equation, because if you can't effectively control all the sweat that is pouring off you; you can, with a good deodorant, control the growth of the bacteria on the skin that are feeding on the sweat and creating the odors that come out from under your armpits. The way that is done is simply a chemistry trick----the bacteria are designed to live and breed in a certain environment, and when that environment is altered, they die. So, the altering in this case, is of the pH of your skin by the deodorant, which when applied to the skin, creates an acidic environment (a lower pH) and the bacteria are done in. The sweat when produced from the body on to the skin's surface is clear and odorless, it is the bacteria feeding on it that produces the smell----so get rid of the bacteria with a lowered pH and the smell is gone. There are natural products that are crystal sticks used as deodorants because they work in a similar manner against the bacteria, only this time, the crystal makes the skin salty and interferes with the bacteria's development.

On the other hand, antiperspirants act in a totally different way. They are not concerned with what you smell like, they are there to stop the sweat from getting out onto your skin in the first place. The way that happens is that the chemicals---usually aluminum salts----plug the openings of your pores in the skin under your arms ( or anywhere on the body for that matter), and stop the sweat from getting out on the skin surface where the bacteria can get at it. Now you see the need for the best antiperspirant deodorant: the sweat is prevented from getting through the skin, and the bacteria are kept from not only getting at the sweat, but from propagating as well, so the end result is that fresh as a daisy euphoric state.

If you find that you are a member of the "in your face" class of odor producers and the usual over the counter products just don't cut it for you; then the best antiperspirant deodorant for you would be something prescribed by your doctor that is a little bit stronger. Something like Odaban or DrySol. There are even more stringent methods that the doctor can use, like surgery----where the nerves that control the sweat production are separated from the spinal column and the sweating is halted that way and subsequently so is the odor. There are even Hollywood types who are going so far as to have their doctors inject Botox into the skin of the underarms to paralyze the sweat glands temporarily.

There are many folks, while in their trials to find the best antiperspirant deodorant combination that will work for them, raise certain concerns that they have about the use of these products. For example; Alzheimer's disease has been connected with ingestion of aluminum (cooking utensils) and many people wonder if the aluminum salts in the antiperspirants can do the same thing. Or what about the fact that with the aluminum salts, we are plugging up pores in our skin----suppose we are trapping toxins in the skin that are supposed to escape with the sweat and leave the body, and they instead are trapped and may cause breast cancer. Numerous studies over the years have looked into those various concerns and worries, and the answer comes back----definitely no. There is nothing to worry about in that respect.

So the search for the best antiperspirant deodorant on the market today comes down to this; which one out of the many that are on the market shelves is the best and will do its job the most effectively. The final kudos go to Dove Antiperspirant Deodorant which is tied in first place with Secret Platinum Protection and the two of them are followed by Secret Clinical Strength Antiperspirant Deodorant. The top three contenders all do the job well of keeping sweat down to a minimum so you feel dry most of the time, and they control odor very well also.

Life for all of us can be challenging even at the best of times, and the last thing you need to be worrying about is having the most adequate sweat and odor protection during your busy days. Once you find the best antiperspirant deodorant that works for you in every way, stick with it and your life will run a little smoother day after day knowing that you have a handle on your every day protection and don't need to give it a second thought.
