"I'm just too tired to workout." I hear this frequently, and most of the time it's an excuse. I say this because exercise itself will increase your energy levels. So if you are tired of being tired, suck it up and workout. But I do realize that for some people, very low energy is a real problem. They really do want to start an exercise program, but are way too fatigued to do it.
So how do you fix this problem? There are a few changes that you must make if you want things to change. As always, information is useless if you don't apply it. So put this knowledge to work and be prepared to see a major improvement in your energy levels. It typically takes one or two weeks before you start to notice a difference. Drink lots of water - Did you know that the human body is comprised of 55% -60% water? Based on that fact alone, you should recognize the value of drinking sufficient amounts of water. It wouldn't be such a huge part of our physical makeup if it wasn't extremely important to our body function. But let's get a little deeper into the matter. Your kidneys use water to do their job. The kidneys are responsible for cleaning toxins from your blood. If you don't supply them with enough water, they can't remove toxins as efficiently. The result is feeling sluggish, and possibly sickness and disease. Someone that isn't active should be consuming at least 12 ounces of water with every meal and snack (5-6 per day). However, someone who is active (which we all should be) needs about a gallon per day. Get adequate sleep - This has to be the most critical step, however it may also be the most overlooked. Without getting enough sleep, there is absolutely no way your brain and body can recharge fully for the upcoming day. The minimum amount of sleep you need to get each night is six. However, you will be much better off getting eight. Stretch every day - When your muscles are loose and limber, they require less energy to operate. So if you are tight and inflexible, mundane tasks like getting into or out of a chair, walking, or reaching, all take require more energy than they should. It's a cumulative effect that contributes to being fatigued by the end of the day. Start doing a full body stretching routine once each day. It only takes 3 - 4 minutes. Eating healthy - If I went into full detail about eating correctly, it would require a entirely seperate article. But I can give a simple overview. You need to eat three meals and three snacks per day. Load up on fruits and vegetables of different colors. Protein is also vital and should come from lean and clean white meat, as well as fish. You can eat red meat as well, but keep it limited to every six or seven days. The fruits and veggies feed your body vitamins that support energy. The high protein intake boosts your metabolism, which also results in better energy levels. So if you've been extremely fatigued, apply these steps today! It can make a tremendous improvement in your energy. Achieving your fitness goals will now be attainable. Above all, keep a positive attitude, and don't settle for anything less than your very best.
