Hello, Im Pete Wotton and if you are anything like me, then you too love playing video games. I used to play them every day and never got bored! I was no different to you in wanting to make a living from what I loved doing and just happened to fall upon the chance to do so.

Video game tester jobs are not for everyone and this article is about what you may experience as a game tester and to give you the plus points and the negatives advantages as well as the disadvantages.

When I was just playing video games at home, I had no idea there were jobs available that paid you to test the latest games.

Do you love the idea of working as a game tester and getting paid to do it?

There are certain things you should know before you jump right in and start giving your time and energy seeking out video game tester jobs.

The downside are:

* You will be in competition with a ton of other wannabe video game testers. And some of them will have professional qualifications.

* When you first start off as a game tester you will discover the wages to be quite low. It does get better when you complete more assignments and gain greater experience.

* More often than not you will work unsociable hours and for long periods of time.

* You will not hop from one testing job to another. Quite often you will have to wait a period of time before your next project.

* Expect to work inside under artificial lighting. The sun doesnt shine on video game testers!

Now for the good news...

* You get paid to play freakin video games! Perhaps not the way you play them now, but at least it involves video games and playing them!

* If you have to have a job, you may as well get one that you are going to really enjoy.

* You will be working and hanging out with people who share the same passion about video games as you.

* After your first few testing jobs, you will find other jobs within the industry that you might like to try. Other jobs might require different skills or qualifications but at least you will get to see them and see what is involved and decide if you want to go for that type of work in the future.

* If you do not like the idea of a regular 9 to 5 job then this work might appeal to you. It sure beats flippin burgers or collecting glasses.

I have mentioned just some of the pros and cons of video game tester jobs and what you may experience if you wanted to become one.

The job will naturally not suit everyones lifestyle. But if you think it is something you can see yourself working at, then you should find out more about life as a video game tester and think about applying for jobs.
