Ever since 1980 the winners of senior golfing tournaments have enoyed the recognition that they deserve. Through senior tournaments a golfer can continue their golfing career and still enjoy the excitement of competion. Today many senior players compete in the events which are held both in the United States as well as in other countried, with the result that many of them have become even more well known.

Ever since 1980 the winners of senior golfing tournaments have enoyed the recognition that they deserve. Through senior tournaments a golfer can continue their golfing career and still enjoy the excitement of competion. Today many senior players compete in the events which are held both in the United States as well as in other countried, with the result that many of them have become even more well known.

The first tour to include senior events was the PGA back in 1980. Today this tour is the most popular American Championship. It now boasts five major championships which have three events in each. As long as a player is fifty years of age, or older, they can participate and they can enjoy the recognition that they deserve thanks to the fact that, along with other organizations, the PGA tournament currently hold a number of events that are specifically intended for senior golfers.

The Championships that senior golf tournament winners are recognized in include five different events today. These events have been added over the years. The U.S. Senior Open and the Senior PGA Championship both started the senior golf events in 1980. In 1983 the Senior Players Championship was added to the field as another part of the tour. In 1989 the Tradition was added and four years later the Senior British Open Championship was added to the Champions Tour.

The Senior PGA is the oldest of the major events for senior golf tournament winners. These events began back in the 1930s. The Champions Tour consisting of the previous four tournaments are what gave golf its success and why the senior tour is considered to have begun in the 1980s. However, the actual senior PGA tour began when the big names in golf actually became of age to be considered seniors like Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. At this point, a division was created for them so they could continue the sport and bring in new golfers their age.

The senior golf tournament winners have varied over the years from American and other differing countries. Jack Nicklaus holds the most titles for senior major wins with a total of 8. In addition, he also holds the regular major win title with a total of 18 wins in his early years of golf. Names you will see today as the most popular winners for the events include Jay Haas with the title for at the Senior PGA Championship, Bruce Vaughan for the Senior British Open, Eduardo Romero for the U.S. Senior Open, The Tradition is led by Fred Funk, and D. A. Weibring holds the title for the latest Senior Players Championship.

Many golfers wish to continue playing the sport they love as well as competing in well established and respected tournaments around the world. Ever since Gary Player and Arnold Palmer, along with others, joined the Senior Tour, there was no looking back. Now, thanks to the organizers and even the golfers themselves, these Senior Championship events are not only available but are part of world famous Tours, such as the PGA Championship, The US Open, The British Open, etc. These wonderful senior events afford golfers the chance to continue with their career and to enjoy the thrill of the competition.
