Gold bullion coins are probably the most common form of gold purchased for investment today. There is no numismatic value attached to these coins. These coins are standardized and are easy to sell. Gold bullion coins make the best since for a physical gold investment.

There is additional way to purchase gold. That is to purchase stock in a gold company. Shares of stock are easy to purchase and easy to sell. This is fundamentally different then buying physical gold. It is possible for the price of gold to go up and the value of your gold stock to go down. There are many other issues besides the price of gold that can affect the price of a company's stock.
