There are very many gold mines all across Arizona. The downside is that even if these mines produce enough gold, the big companies are not interested in buying them. The reason is simple: too much hassle.

One of these mines is the operational mine in Goldfield, Arizona. The owner of the mine says that it produces 75% gold and 25% silver. He has also declared that the amount of precious metal that can be found in the mine can rise up to 60 million dollars. The only problem that he has is that he is too old to stay in this line of business and he hopes to find a small Canadian to become its partner.

Goldfield was a very important mine back in 1850s, after the California gold rush subsided. After several major gold findings, Goldfield managed to become for a while America's second-largest producer. The state of Arizona has been and probably will be attractive to owners and prospectors from other states.

The mayor of Goldfield owns two mines: the Black Queen and Mammoth. He says that almost every week people come to Goldfield in hope to strike gold. Most of the newcomers are unemployed or bankrupt company owners. Their prospecting begins with a trip to the local department store where they buy picks and panels. The next move is finding a good place to camp by the river. The bad thing is that very few of them last more than two weeks. On the other hand, gold mine owners have serious chances of discovering the glittering metal.

The downside is that in order to discover if there are serious amounts of gold in the mines or not, many expensive tests have to be carried out. The simple transportation of materials to the site costs millions. A mine is said to be profitable if besides the precious metal, other valuable minerals are produced. There are owners that are willing to sell their mines on the spot while others try to work twice as hard in the weekends in hope of striking gold.
