Some surveys revealed the fact that people will spend about 2.5 billion dollars on gifts for Mother's Day this year. The amount of cash spent on jewelry per person has gone up to 123.89 dollars last year to 126.90 dollars this year. These figures underline the fact that people are spending a little bit more than they did last year. Valentine's Day, Easter, Saint Patrick's and now Mother's Day are proof that people are trying to forget about the recession.

Mother's Day is known to be the second largest spending holiday in the United States after the winter holiday. Even if people are willing to spend a little more on gifts this year, they haven't stopped looking for gifts more inexpensive but with more sentimental value. The truth is that they will have where to choose from as retailers and restaurants are offering promotions starting from dinners for the whole family to small flower bouquets.
