Norman Lindsay true name was Norman Alfred William Lindsay. On February 22, 1879 he was born. Little did he know that his talent and artistic abilities would someday make him Australia's most know and loved artist. Victoria Australia is his birth city. Norman had many talents along with a mind that later would spring talk and judgement about some of his political view and how he portrayed them in his Norman Lindsay Art. An artist, cartoonist, writer, sculptor, modeller were just a few of his talents.

Born to Robert Charles William Alexander Lindsay and mother Jane Elizabeth Lindsay in Australia during the late 1800's. His father worked as a surgeon, while his mother took care of a house of children. There were ten children in the family. He had six bothers and four sisters; many of them were artists in their own right; however he is known as Australia's best and greatest artist.

He created a huge amount of artwork in various media. Norman wrote children's stories and is best known for his story The Magic Pudding. Some of his work brought outrage for its content and the story he wrote Redheap was banned.

Working as an Editorial Cartoonist was one of his first jobs with the Bulletin. There he used the theme of the Red Menace and the Yellow Peril for his cartoons. The magazine and the views of Norman were close together. Some people considered it racist and politically right wing. His political views were visible in his artwork. Along with politics he was more into erotic drawing and paintings. A compulsive worker he worked on his art day and night.

His creativity was impressed upon other artist of the time. He lived as an artist and was able to works as one using his drawing of cartoon and etchings which are now works of art. His talent is known for writing, excellent sculptors and wonderful watercolour paintings.

While sick as a child he taught himself to draw. He also ad two brothers and a sister who were artists as well. Later he and his brother moved to Melbourne to work for another magazine.

Later he decided with his brother to work for another magazine called the Sydney Bulletin. As artists they drew caricatures, cartoons and illustrations for the magazine. His brother had an equal talent for drawing. One of his pen drawing the Crucified Venus caused such a stir that it was removed from an art show, only to be returned later under threat of removing all the art by the President of the Society of Artist if it was not returned.

Rose Soady was Norman's second wife. She also stepped into the role of his business manager. A role which she did very well. She watched over his work and since Norman Lindsay was always moving on after he finished his work, never bothering to do anything with them, she collected them and has them printed and preserved. The Norman Lindsay Art can be seen in several art museums throughout the world. He died in 1969 always remembered as Australia's greatest artist.
