Not many people know it but improving your kitchen can actually help build your wealth. When considering any home improvements to boost the value of your house then the kitchen is a good place to start.

Kitchen Improvements

The current state and condition of your kitchen will determine the type of improvements you will want to make. There are some important points to pay attention to.

Colors

The colors of the kitchen can affect the overall feel and atmosphere. Neutral colors, which are used often in modern kitchens, such as soft shades of gray, cream, gold and earth tones are popular. Wood cabinets and floors tends to be in light to medium colored finishes. A great effect is to paint the cupboards and then wipe it off to reveal the wood grain.

Stainless steel hoods over cookers or ranges are popular, practical and important for safety. Kitchen islands are also still as popular as ever. Occasionally the materials for the unit and the counter top are different than the rest of the kitchen. This can look particularly stunning when the materials are chosen carefully.

Two of Everything

When it comes to improving the kitchen, Noah had the right idea. Having two of everything will definitely increase the value of your home. Two ranges and two dishwashers commonly appear in kitchens for those who have large families or who frequently entertain. A built in chopping block and marble surface for pastry making are also often seen.

Additional accessories that are increasing popular are under cabinet lighting which make for shadow free work surfaces. A drinks making area with a dedicated smaller fridge and smaller sink is a useful addition.

Practical Points

A nice upgrade which is useful for putting a large pot under for filling with water is the pot filler spigot. When the water fills the pot to the desired height, the spigot can simply be swung out of the way enabling the pot to be easily lifted out. An even easier option is to have the spigot placed above a cooking surface so that the pot does not even have to be moved to be filled.

Appliances

There are many innovations brought out by the more expensive appliance manufacturers such as Viking, Wolf and Thermador. Such modifications include a stove with six burners or two ovens.

Kitchen Cabinets

If you are wanting to change the cabinets then new ones can be little expensive but are worth it when it comes to satisfying potential buyers. If you have more to spend then it is definitely worth looking at custom made cabinets.

Improvements to a kitchen are a fantastic way to boost the value of your home and can be a great investment for the long term.
