If you wait until you are trying to purchase something, you'll be too late. It's much better to fix a bad credit score before you are trying to purchase something rather than after. There are lot of websites around that say that they will give you a free credit rating. The truth is that most of them don't. They will as you for your information and then will require that you enroll in a program before they allow you to take a peek at your credit rating. If you want to get a real copy of your credit history, you may have to pay a slight fee. This is reasonable, however, as getting a copy of your credit history is the best way to make sure that you have good credit! If you find that you're in need of fast credit repair, there are a few things that you can do. The first thing to do is to pay off some of your credit cards. Credit cards drag a credit rating down quickly due to the interest rates. Experts agree that if you can get your credit down to owing less than 30% of the entire credit limit, you will be able to get a better credit rating. Instead of getting any new credit cards, grab some of the older ones you've got out of your wallet and use them. Having a long credit history gives you a better credit rating, and the only way to get that older history is to occasionally use the older cards that you've got. Once you've got your credit history in front of you, go through it with a careful eye. Chances are high that you'll find something that's wrong. Lots of credit companies will give you a negative credit rating when you have a problem with them and will forget to take the negative marks off when you have finished fixing the problem. If this happens, make sure that you contact the company and the credit bureau to get the collection off of your bill. This will bring your rating up significantly in a very fast manner.
