When you are in a situation that feels out of control, such as an overwhelming level of debt, one of the worst aspects of it can be the feeling that things will never again be right - that they are moving along in their own way and their own pace, and the tidal wave is building with no way to reign it in, to wrest back control of your financial life. When you are in a situation that feels out of control, such as an overwhelming level of debt, one of the worst aspects of it can be the feeling that things will never again be right - that they are moving along in their own way and their own pace, and the tidal wave is building with no way to reign it in, to wrest back control of your financial life. You need a debt reduction schedule.

The best way to get control of a seemingly out of control situation is to create a concrete plan, a schedule, and stick to it no matter what. This is where the debt reduction schedule comes in.

The first thing you're going to need to do is make a list of all your bills by getting them together in one place and putting them onto a spreadsheet.

Your principal balances need to be paid down, so it's important that you know how much is going out on minimum payments every month versus how much you are bringing in. This is the only way that you won't know how much you have available to pay down on your balances.

If you plan on paying only your minimum payments every month, then you are basically planning on never getting out of debt. Your minimum payments will never get you out of debt, they are actually designed to keep you paying fees for years and years on end.

Next, you are going to need to come up with a plan of exactly how much you are going to pay down where each month and stick to it. This is the part that will be the most difficult. Just like a diet, a debt reduction plan will be easy in theory but difficult in practice.

When you are on a diet, you need to make sacrifices for the end goal. On a diet you, you need to sacrifice certain foods. When you're getting out of debt you need to forego financial extras like eating out and entertainment at times.

A debt reduction schedule can be the thing that will ultimately save your life, if you want your new life badly in a car willing to make and stick to the changes which are required.
