0 credit cards are those where no interest at all is charged for some initial period such as a year. Such offers are common these days. The first use of credit cards was in USA in 1950. They are now common in most parts of the western world, although more heavily used in some areas than others. The countries which use them most include USA, Canada and UK, while in Japan only very big businesses typically use them at all. The companies which provide credit cards to users make their profit from fees and interest charged on balances which are outstanding. These companies use the offer of zero interest for an initial period to make their card more attractive to obtain. This kind of offer is common now and might be applied to purchases, balance transfers or both. Sometimes certain uses of the card, such as credit advances, have different terms of use. In addition, cash advances might have interest charged from the day that they are used rather than from the billing date as is more usual for purchases, and the repayments might be applied to all other items than cash advances first. Cash advances might even have a different rate of interest from purchases and balance transfers, and it is usually higher. Many people reduce their overall credit card payments once they have outstanding balances on one or more cards, by transferring those balances to a new zero interest credit card, thereby not paying any interest on that balance, for a certain period. Another use of zero interest balance transfer offers is to use the available funds to put into a savings bank account, thus making a real profit on the available capital. Other investments can sometimes be funded in this way, including stocks, shares, forex or commodity transactions. Sometimes the money needed to start a business is found this way. There is a rumor that the Google business was started using hardware bought this way. Movies such as "Battlestar Galactica: The Second Coming" and "clerks" were financed at least in part by credit cards. 0 credit cards can be a great help to finances, if they are used wisely.
